If you have a lifetime hosting plan at FolderFort, you might worry about receiving an email notification from them about a new policy for FolderFort accounts. This concern is completely valid because, according to that email, your account could be transitioned to their new business model: FolderFort Business. And naturally, you will no longer have the lifetime subscription you paid for.

Why do I say this is cause for concern? Let’s look at what they mention in their email.
In it, they say:

And furthermore:

At this point, I, like anyone else with a lifetime subscription, was probably guessing that my lifetime account would be revoked and I would be switched to the FolderFort For Business subscription model. Although they promised that the new model would offer more than what the lifetime subscription provided, such as:
– Use your own domain name
– Use your own logo
– Use your own colors
– Resell space/accounts
– Set your own prices
– Bring your own S3 buckets
– Direct embed/stream
– FF Connect Pro included
However, all those features didn’t appeal to me and weren’t the reason I chose FolderFort in the first place. I chose them simply because I needed a secure place to store my data, and I only had to pay a one-time fee.
Now it seems all with FolderFort is over. And I’m thinking about choosing another provider that better meets my needs, like pCloud’s lifetime plans.
However, after browsing Reddit for more information on this matter, I came across several posts that clearly explained the situation:

I also received an email explaining something similar:

Well, it was all a misunderstanding. The switch from a FolderFort lifetime account to a FolderFort Business account with a monthly/annual subscription model is just an option. And I can absolutely choose not to do it if I don’t want to (which I certainly don’t want to). And my lifetime storage account will remain unchanged. Nothing has changed.
In short, it was all a misunderstanding because their initial email didn’t clearly explain the account change, which led to unnecessary anxiety for customers with lifetime accounts. The new FolderFort Business subscription model is optional, not mandatory, and all lifetime accounts remain the same if you do nothing. That’s all.
And there’s still another important note in their email: FolderFort’s lifetime plans will stop accepting new registrations starting July 1st. Therefore, if you’re planning to upgrade your lifetime storage (or recommend these plans to someone), you should sign up early before that deadline (there are only a few days left). If you want to do that, visit our FolderFort Lifetime Discount to save even more.
Hope this helps.
Have a nice day, guys!
